Ethnic Notions
we are offering a free screening of the critically acclaimed film Ethnic Notions. In this film, filmmaker Marlon Riggs explores the history of African American stereotypes (begun as early as the early-1800's). It is an eye-opening account not only of this history, but also of how these stereotypes were (are) used in children's cartoons, to sell product, and in Hollywood. A must see (particularly for young people--5th grade and older).
