The National LGBTQ Task Force sponsors and organizes Creating Change and this year marks the 25th gathering of this unique national conference. It is also the largest gathering of activists, organizers and leaders in the LGBT equality movement. Imara Rhiannon Chester, program coordinator, Nathan Strickland, health & wellness coordinator, Kunto Howard, project coordinator, David Nelson, executive assistant, and Curtis Lipscomb, executive director, will be attending the conference.
Imara Rhiannon Chester, Nathan Strickland and Curtis Lipscomb will present a workshop the conference for the first time. Their leadership presentation, Leading with Our Intersections, will be held on Friday, February 6.
"I have attended many Creating Change conferences over the years but this particular one is special because I am attending it with my dedicated staff for the second time," says Curtis Lipscomb, executive director. "The training, networking opportunities and experience that we will receive while attending Creating Change will be an invaluable resource to the work we do here in Detroit." Lipscomb was one of four local host committee co-chairs for the 2008 Creating Change conference held in Detroit, MI.
"With support from Unity Michigan, and Friends of KICK, we have an awesome opportunity to attend, learn and educate other advocates engaged in this work," continues Lipscomb. "We are extremely grateful to be selected for this opportunity."
