will be performed at the Methodist Church
at 287 Park Avenue in Orange, NJ.
... Angels With Out Wings is a drama of a life-and-death struggle concerning the seduction of the main character, the Addict, in an effort to destroy her. The play is an allegory whose characters include several representing each of the 12 steps to recovery. It is a classic struggle between good and evil. For the character named the Addict, it comes down to being consumed by drugs or finding a new way to live. Agents on both sides of good and evil work hard to persuade the Addict that she should follow their paths.
 Disease is a paternal figure who enlists The Lost Child and The Scapegoat to lure the Addict to “come out and play.” Trying to guide the Addict toward recovery is Sponsorship, a superhero who goes to great extremes to deliver the Addict from temptation. The Angels With Out Wings are recovering addicts who have undergone a spiritual awakening and now carry recovery’s message to people who are still in active addiction.
 The play offers some tests for the Addict. For instance, knowledge is equated with a toolbox. The Addict takes a peek inside the box and finds it empty, at which point she complains that she has been hoodwinked. Faith points that if the Addict had faith, she would not have needed to open the box.
