ITS A GIVING BACK FRIDAYS....!!!!

LGBT Heritage Month celebrates its fourth year of celebration at Los Angeles City Hall on Friday morning. The public is invited to witness and enjoy the commemoration of LGBT rights advocates Jason Collins, the first openly gay player in the NBA (with the Brooklyn Nets), longtime social and economic justice advocates Rabbi Denise Eger of Congregation Kol Ami and Rabbi Lisa Edwards  of the 42-year-old Beth Chayim Chadashim, former L.A. City Clerk June Lagmay, homeless youth advocate Carlos Sosa and community leaders Mignon Moore and Elaine Harley.
In the past, the City Council presentation has been produced with a flourish and a bit of pageantry—at least from a local government perspective. City Council President Herb Wesson opens the council meeting at 10 a.m. and then announces the commemoration, at which point the lead sponsors of the event—out City Controller Ron Galperin and Councilmembers Mike Bonin and Mitch O’Farrell—will walk in from the back of the august chamber, followed by the honorees. They are greeted with a standing ovation from friends and supporters, after which L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti will start the actual proceedings. Each honoree is also invited to share for a few minutes.
After the ceremony, the community is invited to a reception in the City Hall forecourt, this year emceed by Board of Public Works President Kevin JamesCity Hall is located at 200 N. Spring St., Room 34, DTLA.
