The 2014 *Summer of FLIGHT* Series keeps FLYING higher & HIGHER this week with the return of an ORIGINAL CO-FOUNDER of NATURAL HIGH OPEN MIC which are the ashes & Artists Collective FOUNDATION that WE began to take FLIGHT from just a few years ago in RHIPS RIVERA & his Pomona based Brother in the Poetic Arts COKE AN A SMOKE!!! So be prepared for TRUE words to be spoken all night while Osmith & Kitten Kuroi will be Hosting the Open Mic List along with the Flight School Band & H.G Kimiko!! Don't forget that WE have something very Special coming UP on July 29th as more details will be coming forth sooner than WE think!!!
Now allow US to further introduce this weeks veteran FLIGHT Demonstrators:
RHIPS RIVERA*-
RHIPS is an emcee, spoken word artivist and member of the Inner City Dwellers, a pro-peoples Hip Hop crew skillfully coming together from different corner of Los Angeles. Using hip hop & poetry and the visual arts RHIPS paints portraits of life stories exploring themes around love and loss, identity, resilience, culture, travel and personal transformation. He has shared words up and down California, Ohio, Arizona, Las Vegas, Seattle, Durban South Africa, and Belfast Northern Ireland. Also, in settings like County Juvenile Probation facilities, University Campuses, High Schools and Tia Chucha’s Celebrating Words Festival. He has share the stage with recording artists such as Aloe Blacc, Afro-Classics, Hector Guerra (Pachamama Crew), Quetzal, KrazyRace, 2Mex, and Bambu. And has share the stage with Poets like Luis Rodriguez, Mayda Del Valle, Mark Gonzales and more. On and off stage, he celebrates his love for lyrics and life through the use of the creative process by hosting donation based workshops on creative writing and graphic design. COKE AN A SMOKE*-
“Coke An A Smoke”- is Vape City Kamp resident Poet and Spoken Word artist and is also a graduate from Cal Poly Pomona with a degree in the Arts; he currently represents the Kamp from Southern California’s San Gabriel Valley. Through his poetry he expresses life’s stories of America’s diversity in dealing with love and pain, the social and political, in addition to family and community. Coke An A Smoke has performed at Cal Poly’s 17th annual Dia De Los Muertos, Cal Poly’s Liberal Studies Dept., Antelope Valley College, and Chino California Men’s Correctional Facility. He has also opened for recording artists such as E-40, Bubba Sparks, and Afro Man. He is an advocate for social equality, current volunteers for “PEP” (Prison Education Project) in hopes that everyone is given the fullest experience from life. Currently Coke An A Smoke performs and can be seen on any given night at open mic’s throughout the greater Los Angeles area and is working to publish his book, "All cough, No Hangover."

The List will be open at 8:30pm & be closed at 10:30pm for this Special event which is sure to reach maximum capacity quickly so PLEASE come ready to FLY early!!!!
PERFORMANCE GUIDELINES:
A. List signUP opens @8:30pm, performances begin @9:15pm.
B. No PROFANITY!!!!
C. Each list participant is allowed to perform 1 piece within 5 min.
D. Each list participant may play their own instrument or may request the assistance of the Flight School Band in any configuration desired(WE are here to help all of US fly higher!)
E. Have your instrument tuned before you get on stage if you will be playing one during your turn to perform.
**Don't forget that WE also practice a "Open Band" policy so feel free to bring your instrument if you would like to jam at some point during the night, all "Open Band" participants will be integrated into the stage Musician rotations after 9:30pm, simply check in with either Host to be added to the rotation later in the evening**

WE ask that ALL in attendance "Respect the Mic" or in other words PLEASE be considerate of others while they are performing by not having overly loud side conversations or cell phone activity that may distract the audience or performer on stage which can easily be conducted outside via a short walk out the rear door where people are not performing & attempting to grow as Artists!
