In recognition of Veteran’s Day, the Auburn Avenue Research library will host Sista’ Soldier. This event will include a screening of the independent documentary film Sista’ Soldier, created by Yvette Jackson. The film draws on the plight of African American women in a traditionally male environment and how their motivation, courage and determination has broken down the barriers to both race and gender discrimination. Following the screening will be a panel discussion showcasing African American women in the United States Armed Forces. The program aims to shed light on the integral role that African American women play in our U.S. Armed Forces.
